Strongest correlations per residue

This is a post-processing of the raw correlations analysis, where the strongest correlations for each residue are found. The highest positive correlation (excluding itself) and the highest negative correlation are reported.

As discussed in raw correlations analysis trivial correlations are often found, for example than a residue will be correlated with the next one in sequence, or with the closest ones. To avoid these trivial results different filters have been implemented:

None
No filter is applied to the results
Sequence
The residues that are near in sequence to the analyzed residue are filtered out. The sequence threshold can be selected by the user to determine the minimum number of residues to the left or right of the sequence that must be considered in the filtered region.
Distance
The residues that are physically near of the analyzed residue are filtered out. You can choose a distance to specify that the residues nearer than that distance will be filtered out.

In all cases an additional filter can be applied by comparing the found correlation to that expected for the inter-residue distance in a set of proteins which were analyzed by accurate atomistic molecular dynamics simulations (see the raw correlations analysis).
