BioExcel Building Blocks - Training

Training events on the BioExcel Building Blocks will be performed regularly under the umbrella of the BioExcel centre of Excellence. The list of BioExcel events can be found here:

Examples of training events being planned: Webinars, Virtual Trainings, Workshops.

Webinars are seminars run live over the Internet. Live attendees can rise a hand (virtually) and ask questions to the speaker. The seminar is usually recorded and uploaded to the youTube platform to make it available afterwards. BioExcel webinar series for computational biomolecular research cover broad range of topics related to the latest development of supported software packages; their application to modelling and simulation; best practices for performance tuning and efficient usage on HPC and novel architectures; introductory tutorials for entry level users and much more. A set of BioExcel Building Blocks specific webinars are in preparation, but some webinars related to the workflows field are already available: PyCOMPSs , CWLexec, CWL.

Virtual Trainings are training events done in a virtual or simulated environment, with the learner and the instructor being in separate locations. They are designed to simulate the traditional classroom or learning experience. Similarly to the webinars series, BioExcel Virtual Training series for computational biomolecular research also cover a broad range of topics related to the biomolecular simulation field. The first Virtual Trainings for the PDBe Knowledge Base (PDBe-KB) and for the BioExcel Building Blocks have already been run, but new sessions are being planned: PDBe-KB, biobb

Workshops, oppositely to Virtual Trainings, are face-to-face training events. Usually last from a whole day to a whole week, giving the opportunity to combine theory with all-hands sessions. BioExcel Workshop series for computational biomolecular research include workshops focused on biomolecular workflows, and the BioExcel Building Blocks will be presented in more than one of these workshops: BSC, MolSSI
